Caution when using new AI browsers!

Mirko Ross, CEO and cybersecurity expert, warns in the SZ dossier Digitalwende against naively accepting AI browsers such as OpenAI “Atlas” and Perplexity “Comet.” These products, which integrate AI deeply into the browser, require comprehensive access to personal and business-related data – emails, documents, appointments, and much more.

This makes users transparent, with significant privacy and security risks – both privately and professionally.

According to Ross, the launch behavior of the manufacturers is particularly critical:

AI browsers are being brought to market even though, according to the manufacturers themselves, they have significant security flaws and vulnerabilities.
This is a classic example of market hype at the expense of security, which opens the door to attackers, including prompt injection attacks.

Ross emphasizes that these security gaps pose a significant threat to businesses and private users in particular
– not just in the future, but right now. The convenient AI functions therefore carry the risk of being introduced into data traffic as “Trojan horses.”

His appeal: Be vigilant, understand the risks, and weigh very carefully before disclosing sensitive data when using such AI browsers.
