When AI Plans the Attack: Mirko Ross at the DVGW format: AI in the Utility Sector KOMPAKT
There is plenty of talk about the benefits of AI in the utility sector. Far less is said about the other side:
AI systems are now capable of planning, preparing and executing attacks on their own – faster and in greater numbers than human attackers ever could. This is exactly where the talk by CEO and founder Mirko Ross comes in.
Under the title “Cybersecurity Meets AI: Protecting Critical Infrastructure in the Utility Sector”, Mirko Ross will demonstrate at the DVGW Congress what today’s AI systems are really capable of in an attack scenario. And he raises the decisive question: which assumptions in existing protection concepts still hold and which need to be revised once the other side operates in an automated fashion?
From August 2026, the substantive obligations of the European AI Act will largely take effect.
Using AI in isolated spots will no longer be enough: applications must work reliably in live grid and plant operations, be securely embedded, and build on robust data. Security therefore becomes a prerequisite for operating AI in a compliant way at all.
The talk is part of AI in the Utility Sector KOMPAKT – a curated online format by DVGW that combines proven practical contributions from various expert formats with new talks on AI in grid and plant operations, resilient AI infrastructures, and smart data use (DVGW Congress).
