The Vulnerapocalypse: Mirko Ross on How AI Is Changing Cybersecurity at Digital-Gipfel

Keynote by Mirko Ross at the Digital-Gipfel 2026 side event:

The Vulnerapocalypse: How AI Is Turning Cybersecurity Upside Down

  • Tuesday, 3 November 2026 | Ramboll Deutschland GmbH

Finding vulnerabilities in software used to be slow, manual work. That is changing. AI systems can now search code for flaws very quickly and help turn them into working attacks. Defenders benefit from this, but so do attackers. The number of known vulnerabilities keeps growing, and attackers are exploiting them sooner after they are disclosed. Yet many organisations still take weeks or months to roll out patches.

What AI-driven attacks mean for SME´s

In his keynote, Mirko Ross, founder and CEO of asvin, explains what this means for companies, especially small and medium-sized businesses in Germany’s Mittelstand. He will address three questions:

  • What happens when vulnerabilities are found faster than companies can fix them?
  • Which systems are most at risk, for example connected machines, industrial plants or software from the supply chain?
  • How can companies prioritise risks when they cannot fix everything at once?

The talk is part of the side event “Scaling Innovation Together – Connecting Startups and the Mittelstand for Stronger Cybersecurity“, hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE). The event builds on the Digital-Gipfel 2026. Eight of the BMWE’s innovation and startup initiatives will show how startups and established mid-sized companies are working together on cybersecurity solutions.
